The King Is Coming

The King is coming

Matthew 21:9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, and the crowds welcomed Him with palm branches and shouts of praise. They celebrated Him as King, laying their cloaks on the road in an act of honor and surrender. Yet Jesus knew that this path of praise would soon lead to the cross.

Palm Sunday reminds us that surrender is not always easy. The people welcomed Jesus with excitement, but true surrender meant following Him even when the path became difficult. Jesus Himself showed the ultimate surrender; He willingly walked toward the cross for our salvation.

Surrender is laying down what I want and trusting God with His plan. Just like the people laid down their cloaks before Jesus, I am called to lay down my pride, my fears, my plans, and my worries before Him. When I surrender to Christ, I make room for Him to reign as King in my life.

What is one thing you need to lay down before Jesus today? Is it fear, control, worry, or a personal struggle? Like the crowd on Palm Sunday, I pray you choose to place it before Him.

Lord Jesus, as I remember Your entry into Jerusalem, help me to surrender my heart completely to You. Teach me to trust Your plan, even when I don’t understand the path. Today, I lay my burdens before You and trust You in my process. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
