Not Everyone Is Assigned To Your Birthing Season

Your Birthing Season

John 16:21 (ESV) “When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.”

Life has seasons when God allows pressure, discomfort, and waiting to surround us. These are not seasons of punishment but seasons of preparation. Jesus used the image of childbirth to remind His disciples that pain is often the precursor to promise. The sorrow they would feel at His crucifixion would not be the end of the story; joy was coming through the resurrection.

In the same way, your current struggles may feel overwhelming, like labor pains that seem to stretch longer than expected. But just as a mother must be properly positioned and actively push to bring forth new life, you must play a part in your spiritual birthing season. You must remain positioned in prayer, grounded in faith, and surrounded by the right people. Not everyone is meant to be present in your most critical moments of preparation.

Remember, God does not bring you to the moment of birthing without intending to deliver the promise. What He placed inside of you- your calling, your purpose, your assignment- will not be abandoned halfway through the process. The pain you feel today is not wasted; it is shaping you for the joy that is about to be revealed.

What has God placed inside of you that feels difficult to carry right now? Ask God to help you trust the process and remain faithful in the pushing season.

Lord, help me trust you in my birthing season. Give me the strength to endure the pressure and wisdom to stay positioned in Your will. Remind me that my pain has purpose and that joy is on the other side of this process.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
